HUGHES Jean (late of Easingwold, formerly Tockwith and Boston Spa) On November 15th, peacefully in St. Catherine's Care Home, aged 94. Wife of the late Fred Hughes, much loved mum of Alison, mother-in-law of Andrew and a dearly loved aunt, great aunt and great great aunt. A celebration of her life will take place at Hambleton Crematorium, Maple Park, Thirsk YO7 4SA on Friday 8th December at 11.30am. Family flowers only please, donations received in memory of Jean will be for Dementia Forward. Please wear colourful clothing. Enquiries please to Chapman Medd Funeral Directors, Easingwold. Jean was Head of the Typing Pool when we both worked at the British Library. Ever helpful but firm, I remember her guidance to me as a wet-behind-the-ears junior manager on how to get the best out of the service her team provided.
Meeting since then at gatherings of retired colleagues, Jean was always cheerful with a ready smile and a jocular dig. I was more than happy to donate to Dementia Forward in remembrance of such a lovely lady.
