OAKES Donald 1st September 1931 to 28th April 2024 Quantity Surveyor at Shepherds York and Richmond, Sorrell's and Simons York. Don was a much loved and devoted family man to Rita, his Wife of 67 1/2 years, Son Michael, Daughter Gillian and Daughter in Law Alison. Also a respected Brother in Law, Uncle and Cousin. Born in Richmond Yorkshire, Don lived most of his adult life in York. He died in the loving care of St Leonard's Hospice. "My life, my love, my happiness, Don was everything to me." A proud and private man, for several years he had coped quietly with many health conditions. A true gentleman and a gentle man. He is now at peace. Funeral Service to be held at York Crematorium on Tuesday 21st May at 2:20 pm. No flowers. Donations to British Heart Foundation and St Leonard's Hospice in lieu. Collection plate at Service.
