WHITAKER Rosemary Respected music teacher of York College for girls. Peacefully passed at Rivermead Care Home on the 13th of July 2024, aged 95 years. She will be missed by all her family and friends. A funeral service will be held at St. Mary's Church, Warthill on Thursday 1st of August at 2.30pm. Rosemary taught me at York College for Girls and she was a fantastic teacher. My love of classical music is entirely due to her teaching. She made lessons fun and interesting and was highly respected and, yes, loved by many of her pupils.

My parents sent me to YCfG as they had heard of Miss Whitaker's reputation. They were not disappointed and neither was I! Her endless enthusiasm and the respect she gained from all the pupils even is they weren't interested in music is remembered with gratitude as can be seen from the posts on Facebook. RIP
