PLANS for a new car wash in Selby have been approved.
Eight local residents objected to the planning application, which proposed a new hand car wash with a valeting service on land in Bawtry Road, next to Selby Superbowl, as they felt it would harm the environment.
Letters from the local residents claimed there was “inadequate drainage”, and no system to capture sediment, oil or fuel from the waste water, and that “the waste water is being released into the surface water drain and not the sewer”.
Yorkshire Water also raised concerns but neither Selby Town Council nor North Yorkshire County Council’s highways department objected, and the application was approved by the planning committee.
