A MILLION pounds worth of cannabis has been found in a secluded country house in North Yorkshire.

Officers with a warrant searched the rented detached property in Garnet Lane, Tadcaster, where they found 800 plants on Friday.

Several rooms of the sprawling property – which has extensive gardens, a tennis court and is surrounded by a large stone wall – had been filled with with cannabis production equipment, police said.

Four people were arrested on Friday night.

Two men Nhu-Ban Dinh, 43, and Duc Ta Quang, 23, appeared in York Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with cannabis production and using electricity without authority.

Alex Johnson, prosecuting, described it as “a professional set up of about 800 plants”.

Addressing the bench via a Vietnamese translator, the men of no fixed address in the UK, did not make a plea.

The case will be committed to the Crown Court.

The men were told they were due to appear in court via video link on March 4.

A 22-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman, both from Manchester, have been released on bail while inquiries continue.
