TABLE-TOPPING Cueball ‘B’ produced a total clearance in the pairs to beat basement side Flag & Whistle 9-2 in division one of the York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League.

Tracey Farmeary gamed in 24 darts, and wins from Gina Whittaker, Sue Turpin and Tina Platt gave Cueball a good start.

Sarah Jackson and double-ton scorer Chris Hedley gave visitors Flag some hope, but Cueball upped their game in the pairs.

Lions moved into second place as they knocked Tramways off track with an 8-3 victory.

Shona Benson, Lynn Thompson, Ann Bass and captain Michelle Britton gave Lions the edge, with Sue Lowery and Karen Alton the only two to show any resistance.

Carole Layne and Ruth Norman closed the gap before Lions won the remaining legs.

Acomb ‘A’s final pairing of Rose Gray and Sammy Endersby sealed victory to inflict only the second defeat of the season on division two high-fliers Bootham Club.

The teams were tied 3-3 going into the pairs. Laura Gatenby and Sarah Rankeillor edged Acomb in front, but Janet Foster and Dot Trousdale set up the decider, only for Gray and Endersby to snatch victory.

Second-placed Edinburgh were undone at Severus ‘A’, who had Sue Clark closing 71 in her singles before being joined by Sue Richardson to secure match points.

Sue Atkin top-scored for Turpin, but Michelle Kelly replied with some excellent scoring as Severus ‘B’ took home a 6-3 result to stay in the division two title race.

Division three pacesetters Jubilee were 7-2 victors at Woolpack, whose Liz Jackson closed on bull.

Shoulder ‘A’ are within striking distance after a 9-2 win over Shepherd ‘A’.

Shoulder entered the pairs with a 4-2 advantage, but the club side’s captain Alison Buckley, who had won her singles, was joined by Kerry Humble as they narrowed the gap before Sharon Mountain and Joyce Kane sealed victory.
