A FUGITIVE suspected of committing a violent pub assault in York is still on the run more than two months on, police say.

Detectives searching for Ryan MacLeod believe he is still in York, and have warned they will take action against anyone helping him to evade justice.

MacLeod, 21, is wanted by the police in connection with a violent assault on a 32-year-old man at the Castle Howard Ox pub in The Groves last November.

He is also wanted for recall to prison after he breached the terms of his release licence.

Detective Inspector Dave Kirby, of York police, said anyone helping MacLeod stay on the run will also have to answer to police.

He said: “We know Ryan MacLeod is still somewhere in York and we know there are people out there who know where he is. If you are one of the people who is helping MacLeod to avoid the police, when we eventually catch up with him we will take action against you as well.

“MacLeod has important questions to answer about a serious assault and I urge the public to get in touch if they see him or know where he is.”

The victim was attacked by a number of men in the smoking area of the pub in the early hours. Officers have arrested and bailed three men aged 18, 21, and 24, but are still keen to speak to MacLeod.

Anyone with information which could help officers find MacLeod should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
