Harrogate Library is launching a series of family history sessions aimed at people who are just starting to research their ancestors.
From February 25, people can book an hour’s appointment on Monday afternoons between 1pm and 4pm with volunteer family history expert Mike Greatorex.
Mike is a local studies volunteer at Harrogate Library and has had lots of experience in researching his own and other people's family history.
The sessions will be internet-based and Mike will show users how to research records on Ancestry.com as well as offering advice and guidance on other useful family history websites.
Ancestry.com is accessible to the public on computers in North Yorkshire County Council Libraries.
Mike asks if people can find out a little about their parents or grandparents before they start, and bring this information along with them in a notebook.
They will also need to be a member of the library to log on to the computers.
Phone Harrogate Library on 0845 0349520 if you would like to make an appointment.
