LAST year the cost of postage went up tremendously.
On Monday, December 17, I didn’t receive any mail at all. The following day I received nine items delivered by the Royal Mail.
This included a first-class card from my cousin in Church Fenton that was postmarked December 14. A gift I bought from eBay arrived four days after being posted first class in Edinburgh and a first-class package from a friend in Inverness had been delivered after five days.
However, the record was a second class card from my best friend in Hull that arrived a full seven days after being franked.
Seemingly the first-class items had been delivered third class and the second class card from Hull, one week. What service is that?
The following day I again didn’t receive any post and then on December 20 I had ten items delivered by the Royal Mail.
I wrote to the Royal Mail to ask for an explanation after Christmas and I’m still waiting.
However, as I had to write to Plymouth I don’t know how they can investigate a local postal complaint properly.
