REHEARSALS are well under way for the latest stage production at a York girls’ school.
Pupils at the Mount School are performing a rendition of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s A Little Princess, directed by the head of drama, Rachel Lavell.
Ms Lavell said: “The girls have been working very hard in the lead up to our production. Our backstage team have produced a beautiful, versatile creative space, the costume department has kept costumes relevant to the period to create this fun, entertaining musical set in Victorian England.
“This adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s story is not the same as the movie, which was set in America. This play by Michael Wild is set in Victorian England and is closer to Hodgson Burnett’s original story. We hope that York Press readers will join us to enjoy these performances.”
The show will be held in the school hall on February 13 and 14 at 7pm, with a special matinee performance at 2pm on February 13.
Admission is free, but there will be a collection at the end of the show so the audience can give a voluntary donation to help cover the production costs.
