WORLD number one Greg Harlow will be showing off his skills at New Earswick Indoor Bowling Club on Saturday.

Harlow is in the field for week two of the qualifying events in the York Grand Prix 2013, chasing a £3,000 first prize in the UK Bowls Challenge-run tournament.

The York Grand Prix runs over eight qualifying days in February and March at the Huntington Road venue, concluding with a grand final on March 24.

The next two rounds take place on Saturday and Sunday, starting at 10am both days.

The first round last Saturday saw Steve Roberts and Graeme Wilson book their places in the grand final.

Roberts, who won a UK Masters qualifying event at New Earswick in December, beat Huddersfield’s Jack Dyson 14-9 over 12 ends.

At the halfway stage, Roberts held a 7-6 advantage and it was 11-9 after ten ends, before he won the last two ends.

Manchester-based Wilson edged out Cumbria’s Ben Sherwen 12-11 after going into the last end at 11-11.

Sherwen had taken the first five ends to pick up ten shots, but Wilson came back to win the next five ends to edge 11-10 in front.

New Earswick members Dave Sykes and Andrew Fothergill acquitted themselves well in the round-robin stage, but were unable to make the knockout stages.
