UNSEEDED Claire Pethullis produced a shock in the York & District Ladies Open Squash tournament at Dunnington.
She toppled number four seed Andrea Mayne to clinch a semi-final showdown tonight against reigning champion and top seed Natalie Cain.
The quarter-final match consisted of great rallies with Pethullis retrieving the ball well to take the first two sets 9-7 9-6 before Mayne countered to seize the third 10-9.
However, that only delayed the Pethuliss victory as she secured her last-four berth with a 9-3 win in the fourth set.
Her semi-final against Cain, to start at 8pm, will be preceded by the clash between number three seed Jess Hunter and second-seeded Louise Cotter at 7.20pm.
The plate semi-finals are: Sarah Smelik v Sarah Broadhurst (7.20pm); Liz Stacey v Linda Craggs (8pm).
