MEMORIES and anecdotes from some of York’s historic pubs are being brought together in a special project – and the organisers are appealing for stories.
The “ales & tales” initiative is looking to capture old memories for posterity, to show how integral pubs have been to community life.
Local story-teller Adrian Spendlow will visit various pubs around the city over the next week collecting and narrating stories.
All contributions will go towards the York Stories 2012 community project, which encourages people to tell and share stories that are unique to York.
They will also be published online at yorkstories2012.com
The Ales & Trails events are at The Ackhorne in St Martin’s Lane, off Micklegate, from 2pm to 4pm today; the Fulford Arms in Fulford Road from 7pm to 9pm today; The Court Bistro Bar in the Dean Court Hotel in Duncombe Place from 7.30pm to 9.30pm on Tuesday; the Golden Ball in Cromwell Road from 8.30pm to 10.30pm on Wednesday and the Rook And Gaskill in Lawrence Street from 7.30pm to 9.30pm next Friday.
