THE woman who made a mistake by driving her mobility scooter the wrong way down a one-way street will surely have got the message reading the article (The Press, February 4).
Maybe we should all use mobility scooters and car hire firms in the city should hire them for city use only. Changing from cars to scooters would be environmentally friendly. The last time I visited a sheltered complex one part was like a garage with all these scooters charging up for use.
Could this be the future for tackling congestion in our cities and towns and are we missing a cheap way of getting about carrying heavyweight shopping? There would be no parking charges and in some cases users could even drive into the big stores.
So should these scooters be for everyone even without a disability and could this be the way forward in cities such as York?
