COUN James Alexander’s umbrage at the remit of scrutiny topic (The Press, February 5, headlined “Loan inquiry row”) tells us more of his inability to control his partisan ranting than his grasp of the issue.
He would do better to read the remit of the scrutiny topic which clearly states the credit union will be investigated and he should trust the integrity of the cross-party councillors to be diligent and thorough in their review.
If he is unable to wait for their report to be published and presented to Cabinet, I suggest he speaks with the ex-chairwoman of the credit union, fellow Labour councillor Janet Looker, Cabinet Member for Education and Children’s Services.
Coun Paul S. Healey, Rural West York.
