IT was a red letter day for a customers of a York store when a new Post Office Local service was launched.
The new service has been established in The Co-Operative Food store in Tang Hall Lane, offering a wide range of services, including mail transactions, home shopping returns, cash deposits and withdrawals and tax disc registration.
Customers will also be able top up mobiles phones, pay bills, pre-order foreign currency and use a range of Government services, such as cashing Green Giros and paying for fishing licences.
Mr Bayley, MP for York Central, who pressed the Government to reopen a Post Office in Tang Hall Lane, said: “I am delighted that The Co-operative has agreed to provide a Post Office service at Tang Hall Lane and I know that the this service will be valued by local residents.”
Coun Neil Barnes said: “This compromise of a counter service should be a great success and well-used and I have been personally reassured by the Post Office that opening hours and security arrangements are tailored to the needs of service users.”
