FOUR Clifton men will appear before York Crown Court next month following a fight between a large number of men and women, some of whom had weapons.
Callum Ross Chadwick, 22, of Burtonstone Lane, Carl Anthony Noble, 37, of Kingsway North, Stephen Paxton, 33, of Spalding Avenue, and Tyrone Savory, 20, of Cromer Street, are all charged with affray in Kingsway North on May 28 last year.
Paxton is charged with carrying a sword in public, Noble is charged with having a hammer as an offensive weapon in public and causing actual bodily harm and Savory is charged with possessing a bat as an offensive weapon in public.
Paxton denied the charges and the other three declined to enter a plea when they appeared before York magistrates.
The magistrates decided the case was too serious for them to deal with and sent all four to York Crown Court for trial by a judge and jury.
They released the four on bail until their next court date on March 15.
