STAMFORD Bridge booked their place in round two of the City of York Girls’ Football League Under-13s Cup with a 1-0 win at Fulford.

Bridge, the U13s Championship leaders, came through a thrilling cup tie away to in-form Premiership side Fulford, snatching the winner in the last four minutes.

Despite having played only one competitive match in the last six weeks, Bridge did not take long to settle and created a host of chances in the first half.

Fulford came back into the game at the start of the second half, while Stamford Bridge’s Ellie Parkin embarked on a box-to-box run before her shot was saved by the Fulford ’keeper.

With the match heading for extra time, the deadlock was broken by the visitors.

A ball out of defence found player of the match Emma Nelson on the left and her excellent run and pass was met at the far post by striker Jess Wills, who prodded home her eighth goal of the season.

Bridge will host either Brooklyn or Scotton Scorchers in the quarter-finals.
