GEORGE Osborne repeats over and over again, “We must get the national debt down”.
I agree. We want to hear him say: “I have got back all the unpaid tax from our top earners, bankers and international business corporations, who go to any lengths to avoid paying taxes on the huge profits they make from us and put them in countries with lower taxes.”
“Good business,” they would say, but certainly not all in it together.
Nothing from them towards costs of defence, government, police, fire and civil services, health, education, care services for births, children, the sick, invalids, injured, unemployed and aged. All paid for from workers’ taxes.
They say they are getting back more. Not good enough – there’s a long way to go yet.
