A MAN was arrested following the sudden death of a woman at a house in York.
Paramedics raised the alarm and called police to a house in Bishophill Junior where they were trying to help a woman in her 40s. However, the woman did not respond and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 46-year-old man, who was at the house when officers arrived shortly before 9pm on Friday, was arrested and questioned in connection with the woman’s death before being released on bail. He is not believed to be related to the woman.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “On arrival officers found a woman in her 40s who was unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene.
“A 46-year-old local man who was present at the scene was arrested in connection with the incident. Following questioning he was released on police bail.
“Officers are continuing to conduct inquiries at the scene as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the woman’s death. “
Police are not treating the death as murder and the cause of death has yet to be established.
They have not released details of the woman’s identity.

The police spokesman said an officer was stationed at the property on Friday night and on Saturday to protect the scene while it was being examined as is customary with an “unexplained death”.
