The M62 between junctions 34 and 35 in Humberside was shut at the weekend after a tanker carrying a toxic and flammable chemical overturned and started leaking on Friday evening.
The tanker overturned on the eastbound carriageway between junction 35 (with the M18) and junction 34 (for the A19/Selby).
A 300 metre safety exclusion zone was created around the scene, with both carriageways closed.
Humberside Fire & Rescue Service which led the operation believe it was the biggest chemical spill in the region for a decade.
