PERSONNEL from a North Yorkshire air base have taken time out from their duty to help with a children’s hospice.
Staff from RAF Linton-on-Ouse’s Air Traffic Control squadron took part in a number of projects at Martin House Children’s Hospice at Boston Spa.
The RAF team helped move stock to charity shops around Yorkshire, and cleared out a number of store rooms at the hospice, which freed up the Martin House fundraising team to keep working in the vital Christmas build-up period.
The team also assembled a swing that had been donated from a winning entry at the Harrogate Flower Show, and which for months had remained in a storage area due to a lack of volunteers.
Squadron Leader Iain Eaton said: “When the opportunity arose to support such a worthy cause we leapt at it. It was great to be able to lend a helping hand and know that our work will be enjoyed by the children and their families for years to come.”
