A YORK author will launch his latest book in the presence of the Bishop of Middlesbrough and the Sheriff of York and Sheriff’s Lady.
John Rayne-Davis, of Copmanthorpe, chronicles Christian life in York from the declaration of Constantine as Roman Emperor in the city in 306AD to the present day in The Catholic Heritage of York.
The book also covers the role of York son Guy Fawkes in the Gunpowder Plot of 1605 and today’s ecumenical relationships within York.
Mr Rayne-Davis will be joined by the Bishop of Middlesbrough, the Rt Rev Terence Drainey, and the Sheriff of York, Coun Paul Firth, with his wife, Jenny, at the public launch at St Paul’s Bookshop on Friday at 5.30pm.
The book will be the sixth by the author who specialises in Christian books and has written a biography of St Margaret Clitherow of York.
