ANOTHER valuable victory was poached by City of York Hockey club ladies’ first team.
The team entertained lowly Bolton and accurately reflected the gap between the two – Bolton are lodged second from bottom – in the premier division of the Yorkshire League after the hosts triumphed 3-1.
The victory followed hard on the heels of the previous win over anchor outfit Wigton and reinforced the York team’s grip on fifth place.
And boasting fixtures in hand over the three teams immediately above them, the incentive is on for York to wrap up the season in an even higher position.
Indeed, York can go above their nearest rivals Sheffield Hallam firsts next week.
If they register a third triumph on the bounce when they entertain Hallam, they will leapfrog the steel city side into fourth spot.
