A WOMAN in a wheelchair has been injured in a collision outside a York shop.
The incident happened outside the Co-op store in Haxby between 11.30am and noon yesterday.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said the woman, who was holding a small child, was reversed into by a red car, about the size of a Vauxhall Astra.
The driver, a man in his forties or fifties, did not stop following the collision, and drove away from the scene. A female passenger was also in the car at the time.
The woman suffered a minor arm injury which did not require medical treatment as a result of the collision, but police have urged anyone who saw the incident, or who can identify the driver, to contact them.
PC Vince Maltby, of North Yorkshire Police, said: “I am urging the driver of the car to come forward and contact the police before we contact you. It is an offence to fail to stop at the scene of a collision and you are only making things worse for yourself by not coming forward.”
Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information which could assist police should phone 101, email vince.maltby@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk or phone Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
