POLICE are searching for a 91-year-old woman who has gone missing from her home near York.

Anna Stewart was reported missing from her home in Mill Lane, Seaton Ross this morning. She was last seen walking to get a bus, in the direction of Bielby at about 6.30am.

It is thought she may have taken some form of public transport in an attempt to get to Skelton in Teeside where she used to live, police said.

A number of searches are currently being carried out across the East Riding, North Yorkshire and Cleveland in an attempt to find Mrs Stewart, who is known to have dementia.

Police are especially concerned about her welfare due to her health, age and vulnerability.

Insp David Braysmith, of Humberside Police, said: “Mrs Stewart has only been a resident in the area since December 2012, previously living in Skelton, Teeside for over 60-years. I would like anyone working on the transport network, buses, trains or taxi firms who think they may have seen her to ring the police.

“Even though Mrs Stewart is in relatively good health, she has been diagnosed with the early stages of dementia and her family are anxious to know her whereabouts and know she is safe and well."

Mrs Stewart is described as a white woman, around 5ft 3ins tall and of a slim build. She has grey short curly hair, and was last seen wearing a purple waterproof jacket, a royal blue jumper, a red and blue waistcoat, blue trousers and black ankle boots with velcro fastening, carrying a brown shopping bag.
