A MICRO-BREWERY from York has teamed up with a preserves firm from Harrogate to give chutney lovers a new treat.
Treboom Brewery is now supplying its Kettle Drum Best Bitter for use in The Harrogate Preserves Co’s ale, fig and apricot chutney.
Sally Hargrave, from the preserves firm, said she previously bought bottled beers for her recipes, but said: “One day I was standing in the supermarket and thought it crazy not to be using a named beer from a local microbrewery.”
She appealed through twitter and Treboom got in touch. John Lewis, who runs Treboom with his wife Jane, said: “There’s nothing better than a wedge of blue cheese or Wensleydale and a generous helping of chutney washed down with a pint of best bitter”.
He said the chutney was “all our favourite things rolled into one package”.
“It’s just the sort of thing we love to do,” he added.
