IF THE Tour De France Grand Depart will cost York £500,000 (The Press, February 8), this can only be classed as fantastic news for those who pay council tax.
The article in The Press suggests that almost £29 million of revenue will be brought into the city and council leader James Alexander states the tour would be “massive for the York economy”.
Due to this massive injection of capital into the city, are we to presume that the 1.9 per cent increase in council tax for the next year can be scrapped?
