A BATTLING display from 11-man Heworth saw them push Normanton all the way in a 14-10 ARLC Under-16s Yorkshire Combination Youth League division one defeat.
Injury-hit hosts Heworth could only field 11 players, but looked to be on course for a draw until Normanton got the winning score late in the game.
Normanton scored a converted try after 20 minutes, but Heworth evened it up with a clever try in the corner by Daz Harris, but Jonny Rawsthorne missed the conversion. Harris then barged through to score under the posts, and Rawsthorne converted for a half-time lead of 10-6.
In the second half, Normanton fought back and scored a try, but missed the conversion.
Normanton scored the winning try in the last minute, but that failed to detract from a fantastic team performance by Heworth.
