YOUNGSTERS from Elmpark Junior Football Club’s Under-9s team are pictured celebrating after winning the York Mitchell Sports Football League Plate competition.
The Heworth-based team won the final against Brooklyn on penalties as the tournament – held in conjunction with City Football Development – reached a climax at PlayFootball at Clifton Moor.
Elmpark manager Tony Livingston said: “The final was played in good spirit, but became a nail-biter after going to penalties.
“Both teams held their nerve, but outstanding goalkeeping from Cole Gayle meant the trophy went to Elmpark.”
He added: “Elmpark were only established this season so it is the boys’ first season together.
“I am so proud of the boys.
“Every one of them gave 100 per cent.”
Anyone interested in joining Elmpark Juniors should phone Livingston on 07976 077473.
