YORK Railway Institute’s Under-12s girls’ football team will be looking the part after being provided with a new kit.
The team are third in the City of York Girls’ Football League table having only lost two games all season, and are on a four-match unbeaten run.
However, the team was in need of a new kit, which they have now got from opticians Specsavers.
York RI chairman Pete Swan said: “We’re so pleased that Specsavers could help us out.
“The girls are thrilled to pieces with their new kit and it honestly means a great deal to the club that they stepped up and helped us out. We really are very grateful.”
The side will wear their new kit – pictured left – in league matches, at fundraising events and during tournaments in Yorkshire and Blackpool.
Deryk Watts, Specsavers store director for York and Acomb, said: “We firmly believe in supporting our local community and we were happy to help out the York RI girls team.
“We hope the new kit inspires the team to play well and helps them finish in a strong position this season.”
