Rob Brown and Steve Williams get in some practice with hoops and sticks for the Victorian- themed fun during next week’s February half-term at Beningbrough Hall, near York.

Until Sunday, February 24, (closed Monday, February 18) there will be a variety of indoor and outdoor activities for young and old alike, including trails in the house and garden, storytelling sessions, tours, talks and traditional Victorian games that will be laid out around the garden for families to enjoy.

Beningbrough’s popular art workshops Artrageous! will be offering the opportunity to make your own Victorian servants and engage in some creative plate decorating. The hall’s garden team will be providing informative talks on aspects of the garden that played a prominent part in Victorian life.

Jo Parker, events and marketing co-ordinator, said: “Half-term offers a great chance for people to visit the fantastic Georgian mansion at Beningbrough and discover some of the local untold stories of the Victorian age here.

“We have plenty of activities, whatever the weather brings, so why not return to a time when the promise of a game of hoop and stick was as enticing as a go on an X-Box.

“You might find your grandparents can show you a few things.”

The hall opens from 11am to 3.30pm for the school holidays. From March 1, the property will open from Tuesday to Sunday from 11am to 5.30pm for the main season.
