Pupils, teachers and parents who helped to plant the Diamond Orchard at the Archbishop of York Junior School
YOUNGSTERS at Archbishop of York Junior School at Bishopthorpe planted a Diamond Orchard to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The planting was organised by students, teachers and parents at the school.
Head teacher Jonathan Green said he was confident that the orchard would encourage habitat creation, enrich learning opportunities and form a link between the the school’s gardening club and science and maths teaching.
Mr Green said: “I feel the project will enable pupils to take part in decision-making, work responsibly with others and take responsible action in the community.”
