A FORMER jeweller’s store in York city centre could be turned into an office for a financial or professional services company.
Azendi in Colliergate closed last year and the building has been empty since.
Its owners say there has been little demand for it as a shop and have now been granted planning permission to change its use, to try to find someone to move into the site.
Planning guidance says that in any shopping street, non-shop businesses should account for less than 35 per cent of the total and a city council report said this move would take Colliergate’s figure to 34 per cent, so should be allowed.
