POLICE scoured a Selby village in the early hours after a terrified householder awoke to hear burglars trying to get into his house.
Ten officers, some with dogs, were called to The Gardens, Camblesforth, after the householder disturbed two raiders at around 2.45am on Monday.
He rang 999 as the men ran away and a police search lasting more than an hour ended in the arrest of a 29-year-old man in nearby Mill Lane.
The arrested man, who is from the Pontefract area, was last night still in police custody for questioning on suspicion of going equipped for burglary.
The police search continued until around 3.40am on Monday and police are still trying to trace a second suspect with the help of colleagues in West Yorkshire.
Residents have been advised to remain vigilant and ensure their homes are appropriately secured.
