WALNUT Tree’s players hit the tons as Becky Thompson (2 x 100), Sandra Winters, Babs Harrison and captain Diane Moreland (121, 100) gave them the upper hand and a 4-0 lead at Tramways in York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League division one.
However, Tramways’ captain Sue Lowery, got them back on the right track as they took the remaining games for a 7-4 win.
Carole Layne, and Jan Wilberham snatched victory to go back into second place as Lions suffered at the hand of leaders Cueball ‘B’.
Lynn Thompson and Muriel Britton were the only Lions to roar as top-scoring from Cueball’s captain Tracey Farmeary (121, 119) and vice captain Bev Harton (140) helped to secure a 7-2 victory as Lions’ finishing let them down.
Linda Welch won the opening leg for Cueball ‘A’, but Magnet captain Tracey Watkinson kick-started a match-winning five-game run. Sandra Bruce sealed victory before the club side added to their tally.
Watkinson and Bruce joined up in the pairs for a 23-dart leg as they won by the same margin as Cueball ‘B’.
Claire Murphy and Marj Pearson signalled Burnholme’s intentions at Flag, who replied through the two Janes of Flynn and Dobson, and Carole Salkeld.
Caroline Whittaker restored the visitors’ advantage before a single-handed pairs win from captain Pearson secured match points.
In division two, second-placed Edinburgh were taken to the wire by visitors Turpin whose Becky Marmion levelled at 3-3.
Going into the pairs the home team captain Chris Lamb and Amanda Bevan edged them in front and colleagues Jan Netherwood and Pat Jamieson sealed the win as they narrowed the gap on front-runners Bootham Club who had a free week.
Clifton raced into a 4-1 advantage entering the pairs against visitors Acomb ‘A’, for whom Rose Gray starred.
Both Severus teams were gifted their points as Burton and Acomb ‘B’ could not field teams.
Brenda Dawe, Angela Lancaster, Heather Bulmer and Julie Oliver saw division three leaders Jubilee enter the pairs with a commanding lead over visitors Sun, whose Dorothy Barker and Linda Turgoose gave them hope before Louise Warren and Laura Heward sealed victory.
Shoulder ‘A’ moved to within a point of the leaders after they were prevented from a full house by Woolpack’s Liz Jackson, who was successful in the opening game.
