BOOTHAM’S Matt Dawson and Jamie Robinson won the inaugural York Conservative Club’s Paul McReady Memorial Pairs Knockout defeating Roy Walker and Simon Whitely 2-0 in the final at Bootham.
Matt Dawson was the main scorer as the Bootham pair surged 31-12 ahead. Walker and Whitely potted five reds but only one colour.
The Heworth duo responded and, helped by eight points from fouls, trailed 45-29 after sinking the yellow. Robinson then sunk brown, blue and pink to earn the Bootham pair the first frame.
The Heworth couple went ahead 28-8 in the second frame as Whitely dominated. Dawson scored nine points and Robinson narrowed the gap to one at 31-30.
He added a fluked green and Dawson the brown before Robinson cleared the last three colours to win the second frame 59-31 for a 2-0 win.
Robinson was awarded the highest break award donated by Chris Wasniowski. The trophy and awards were presented by sponsor John McCready. Tim Fillingham refereed.
