TICKETS are selling fast for a musical night of nostalgia in aid of The Alzheimers Society.
The Best of British 1940s dance night will be held in the Tramways Club in York on March 7, and will include a pie-and-peas supper, jazz and swing music, a bar and a raffle.
Organiser Brenda Mackfall, 79, a singer, said she hoped people would dress for the occasion in 1940s outfits and uniforms, while the hall will be decked in red, white and blue.
Brenda said there would also be a singalong for everyone to join in at the dance party, which runs from 7.30pm to 11pm.
“I am hoping we will make quite a bit of money for the Alzheimers Society. It is one of my favourite charities. I thought this would be a nice way to raise money for them as it is a wonderful cause.”
Tickets, £4, can be bought from Brenda on 01759 371900 or the club. Tickets cannot be bought on the door.
