Richard Durie and Alex Phillips from York St John University Boat Club were just two members of a team of students to take part in a gruelling 12-hour fundraiser.
The St Valentine’s Day event has become an annual fixture on the college’s fundraising calendar, with money going to a national heart charity.
Tony O’Hagan, Boat Club men’s captain, said: ”Every year on St Valentine’s Day we come together as a boat club for a 12-hour rowathon in aid of the British Heart Foundation.
“It basically means we have rowing machines which are in use by our members, and all the other clubs and societies, for 12 hours straight.”
The money raised is still to be counted.
