A LEADING councillor limbered up for an exercise class with a difference.
Coun Sonja Crisp, York’s head of leisure, joined people hula hooping to promote City of York Council’s Eng-AGE 50+ activity day, at Energise in Acomb.
It is the second anniversary of the programme, which is designed to promote different sports and activities for over-50s.
Last year 90 people took part in a zumba gold taster class at the lesuire centre, while 52 people tried tai chi.
Coun Crisp said: “Since our Eng-AGE programmes was launched we have had a fantastic response to our sport and fitness sessions.”
Dr Paul Edmondson-Jones, City of York Council’s director of public health, said: “This Eng-AGE event rightly promotes the benefits of exercise, which brings medical benefits to health like reduced risk of cardiovascular disease.”
