I FEEL compelled to inform The Press readers what a wonderful asset they have in York City Football Club.
My father, Bill Barton, died unexpectedly on February 2. It was such a shock as in no way was it expected.
Dad was a York City supporter for 45 years and was a well-known figure on the terraces at Bootham Crescent.
The kindness shown to me, my mum and family from Sophie Hicks, Jason McGill and Phil Howden and especially all dad’s lifelong friends at the club has been overwhelming and so comforting at such a sad time.
York City is not just a football club, it is a family and people should continue to support their own city’s team as the people there are one of a kind.
