YORK’S increasing cultural diversity was celebrated with a day of activities at a school in Acomb.
York High School played host to a family learning day called Connecting Cultures during the school half-term break.
Organised and run by NYBEP, the North Yorkshire Business and Education Partnership, the free event featured a variety of activities and vibrant performances with about 150 people and more than 50 families taking part.
NYBEP’s Ailsa Brown said: “As York’s cultural diversity continues to grow, it becomes increasingly important for the many different social groups in our city to get to know one another, celebrate each other and mutually share our special heritages and abilities and this open-to-all day of workshops was designed to do precisely that.”
