A SEASON of night time football matches has been launched in Selby.
The Midnight Soccer League, based at Selby’s Fire Station Recreation Ground in Canal Street, are supervised weekly sessions to give young people, aged between 11 and 19, the chance to improve their football skills.
Selby District Council’s deputy leader Gillian Ivey launched the sessions, and said: “We’re delighted to be giving the young people of Selby this chance to enjoy a game they love in a safe and supported environment. Even if they’re not playing they can come along and watch, cheer on their friends and take part in some of the other activities.”
The two-hour sessions start at 7pm every Friday, and are run with the district’s cultural and leisure services partner Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust (WLCT), Selby Fire Station and York City Football Club.
