POLICE and council staff will be able to share each other’s fuel facilities under a new deal aimed at saving money.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Humberside Police will share resources to reduce the need to use more expensive commercial forecourts if vehicles such as patrol cars, waste collection vehicles or gritters need refuelling while away from their regular base.
Stephen Parnaby, leader of the council, said: “This is an excellent initiative by the council and Humberside Police and is a good example of how two public services can work more closely together during these uncertain economic times.”
