Despite a crushing 5-0 defeat to Pontefract, IT Sports Wigginton have already guaranteed survival with three games remaining in the Yorkshire Squash League premier division.
After last week’s 4-1 victory over Bradford side Heaton, Wigginton struggled to put together a solid performance.
Wigginton, who were missing their number one Pete Bilson, got of to an unusually bad start when Ian Tooms was beaten 3-1 by world number 21 Emma Beddeos.
Jon Duffield was then beaten 3-2 by Dipika Pallikal, who is ranked 15th in the world.
Wigginton’s misery continued when number three Simon Myring was also edged out in a five-set thriller by Alex Hodgetts.
Chris Rusling, IT number one on the night, lost 3-0 by Sam Wileman, while Josh Harris fell to the same score to Thoboki Mohohlo.
