VOLUNTEERS are needed to take part in a charity event when the heat will definitely be on.
The York Blind and Partially Sighted Society is to hold a fire-walking event on Thursday, March 28, at the Coppergate centre.
Participants will walk over 20 feet of burning embers at a temperature of 1236 degrees Fahrenheit, following two hours of motivational training.
Diane Roworth, chief officer of the society, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for people to test their courage, and raise money that will help local blind and partially sighted people.
“We are raising money for our equipment and information centre in Holgate Road, which helps people with various levels of vision to remain independent.”
Volunteers must raise a minimum of £99 to take part, and can register by phoning the society on 01904 636269, or emailing firewalk@ybpss.org
If you do not wish to take part, but still want to sponsor the event, go to ybpss.org
