A NEW police inspector has started work in Selby and is looking forward to using her links with the town to help keep crime down.
Inspector Lindsey Stamp has stepped into her new role at Selby Police Station, and hopes her knowledge of the area will mean she can work closely with local partners.
Insp Stamp said: “Selby district was my preference. I have previously worked here as a PC in 2004, and served my first three years on the force in the area.
“I chose to be posted here, and thoroughly enjoyed my time in the Selby district. I have good local knowledge, and I’m really looking forward to working with the safer neighbourhood team in the town.”
Chief Insp Mark Iveson, of the Selby safer neighbourhood command, said: “Insp Stamp has a good awareness of the structure and make-up of the district, and in her role as Selby town safer neighbourhood inspector, I am sure she will make a valuable contribution to the team’s efforts in ensuring Selby district remains one of the safest in England and Wales.”
Before taking on the Selby role, Insp Stamp worked at North Yorkshire Police headquarters in Newby Wiske, in a strategic role as staff officer to the chief constable.
She said she was pleased to be “back in an operational role” with the safer neighbourhood team.
“I think it’s a fantastic team and I’m absolutely delighted to be here,” she said.
“They are already doing some fantastic work in the area and I’m looking forward to working with the team, the public and partners to reduce crime and antisocial behaviour across the Selby district, and keep Selby safe.
“It’s more a case of keeping up the good work that is already being done.”
