FIRE crews were called to a chip pan fire at a house in Stayner Avenue, Selby.
The fire was out by the time crews arrived, but the pan was destroyed. The kitchen also suffered some fire and smoke damage in the incident, at about 8.30pm on Friday.
A North Yorkshire Fire Service spokesman said crews ventilated the kitchen, and administered first aid to the resident, who was not seriously injured.
