IN reply to Ian Yates (Letters, February 18 – “If only the voters had the same option”), having played a positive role in the Police and Crime Commissioner Julia Mulligan’s election campaign, Julia’s number one priority is to cut crime and provide strong and independent scrutiny of the police.
She wants to make anti-social behaviour a priority, stop the culture of endless slaps on the wrist, introduce parish constables, crackdown on cross-border crime and deliver better value for money.
Only Julia can bring a fresh approach and the new start needed in York and North Yorkshire, and a new era of openness and accountability and positive plan to cut crime in York and North Yorkshire.
Julia Mulligan is the right person to do this and that is why she was elected as commissioner.
Terry Smith, Fourth Avenue, York.
