A TEENAGER has been charged with sexual assault and indecent exposure following incidents at the University of York.
The 16-year-old local youth was arrested last night and has been charged with nine offences - five counts of indecent exposure and four counts of sexual assault.
Police had previously appealed for information after a 22-year-old woman, was walking alone along the cycle bath between Wentworth Way and University Road at around 7.15pm on January 27 when she noticed a man on a white mountain bike ahead of her.
As she passed the man he touched her inappropriately before cycling into the Wentworth College campus.
A short time after, a 20-year-old woman was walking near Vanburgh College when she became aware of a man cycling behind her.
As she reached her living quarters, the man who had now got off his bike, pulled his trousers down and exposed himself to her.
A force spokesman said the teenager was spotted by university security staff, who contacted the police and held him until officers arrived.
He is due to appear at York Magistrates’ Court in March.
